My info about the band: STEVE HARLEY (Stephen Nice) = Born: 27 February 1951 in Deptford, south London, England. He was the second of five children, his mother was a jazz singer. In the late summer of 1953 he contracted polio and was afflicted in the right leg. He spent 4 of his first 14 years in hospital beds. When he was 17, he left school. In the spring of 1968, he got his first job, at the Daily Express newspaper in London. Stephen Nice changed his name to Steve Harley and began his career in London folk clubs in 1971/2. He later joined the folk band 'Odin' as rhythm guitarist and co-singer. He formed 'COCKNEY REBEL' in summer 1973. Founding member: Steve Harley (Vocals, Guitar), Jean Paul Crocker (Guitar, Electric Violin), Paul Avron Jeffreys (Bass Guitar) (Died: 21 December 1988 in the bombing of the Pan Am airliner over Lockerbie, Scotland), Milton Reame-James (Keyboards) and Stuart "Stu" Elliott (Drums). In autumn 1973 they released their first album 'The Human Menagerie'. In spring 1974 they released 'The Psychomodo', produced by Alan Parsons.. The group was voted as the most Outstanding New Act of 1974 but disbanded on 23 July 1974. On 25 August 1974, Steve formed a new band 'STEVE HARLEY AND COCKNEY REBEL' with Stuart "Stu" Elliot (Drums), Jim Cregan (Guitars), George Ford (Bass Guitar) and Francis Monkman (Keyboards, only on Reading Rock Festival). In October 1974, Duncan McKay (Keyboards) joined the band. They recorded 'The Best Years Of Our Lives' in 1975 [With a 2nd guitarist: Snowy White and Yvonne Keely (Backing Vocals)]. In 1976 they released 'Timeless Flight'[With: Yvonne Keely, Patricia Paay (Backing Vocals) and Lindsay Elliott (Percussion)]. The same year they released 'Love's A Prima Dona' with guest appearances: Lindsey Elliott (Percussion) and Yvonne Keely (Vocals). The band disbanded on 7 juli 1977 after the release of the live album 'Face To Face'. STEVE HARLEY went solo in 1977. His first solo album 'Hobo With A Grin' was released in 1978. The next albums are 'The Candidate' (1979), 'Yes You Can' (1992) and 'Poetic Justice' (1996). In 2003, Steve Harley reformed Cockney Rebel. On 8 July 2005 he was present on “Izegem Rockt”. Most of my friends, myself and all those who where on your concert said...it was their best, most wonderful concert experience in life. And we all have seen the rest of the "big one's". After a 1,5h preforming, Steve and the Band where about to finish the concert...but we called them back for 3 times...we just could not get enough of this beauty...
