How good do you think this site is: Its ok Comments: This film is about how communication isn't encouraged, so having the right nerve touched gets harder and harder. That makes you wonder why go on with anything. With the middlemen in the way (parents, teachers, FCC, etc.), along with the generation gap is incurable, this alienation is inevitable. All we have is each other. So how Mark became that voice, that leader...the almost imposed responsibility on people you don't think you're above than because you're their peer. But being the sole communicator, telling it like it is freely expressing yourself becomes power. That's why rock stars are so looked up to. The damage to Mark has already been done just by being born in such a world. Since his parents were young and the world has change for the worse. That's why Mark thinks he can't talk to anybody (which can definitely be seen today). So hiding behind the illusion of talking to nobody but still talking is his only solution. Then comes the reluctant, un called for leadership. Leaders have to deal with responsibility and burden of people they're not equipped to handle, it just happened. But the real authority doesn't want their power taken away from them, even if their being upstaged by the right nerve toucher. Power doesn't make them authority, just appearing to be in charge but never listening to your instinct and being in touch with what you truly feel. They haven't been there in years and they've lost touch with it because they're too busy being way older than us with not one representative of the youth. Also that there really aren't types if we were as open, beyond the image (impossible?) All these challenges in life (authority), can be dealt with by communicating how you feel, etc. Because we're all in this together but that concept has been lost. When people are repressed from expressing themselves freely, they have 2 identities. The shy one that's not himself and the out there one who needs that little bit of craziness that we all need. And the personality conflict amongst us all is how we do it. Only being comfortable with yourself when you're by yourself is the challenge that reaching out is the answer to. So parents will never truly understand what it's like to be young once they're not young anymore. No matter how they try and relate to you, they will always think they're better than you in the long run but never pay attention to the case at hand. They can't relate to problems they don't have anymore, or new ones they're not equipped to handle. The youth has a voice that's being suppressed because power with these old hypocrites is addicting. Doesn't mean they don't have a voice, but it shows you how little it will be heard. If it robs the authority of it's listeners then the law will take over from there. And the bottom line is that the youth can't secede from what they're going to become. And that gets out of hand, just look at the mob. They have their own little thing and if the powers that be aren't bribed in their little way then they attack it. Then there's the love story. How there always are exceptions to the 'nobody understands me but me'. And that's the salvation. Also how it's a man's world primarily and women are here to make us all better with love therapy. Leaders need understanding too, but not from those who depend upon them. So whilst all this turmoil, love salvation is the obvious (yet less apparent) solution/distraction. That's the only reason as to why bother. So the key is to be in touch with yourself. Know who you are and what you want means progress, and that's the end solution. And of course there are boundaries with free expression, that's why life sucks more than it doesn't. It's a war and this movie shows it. But the powers that be will always be a bit more right than we are and that's why things will continue to be the way it is in the movie and in real life. It's all a generation war. So be in touch with the inside and out and find that median, if possible. But why would anybody encourage self-expression? Isn't growing into the same bribery as your once free-thinking parents, but with your generation is what growing up is really all about?
