Welcome to the Kintaline guestbook! Thank you for taking the time to sign / read it - we really do value your comments. We are sorry that we cannot supply birds or eggs outside of the United Kingdom and we do aim to add more information as time goes on - if you need a specific response please email us direct and we will answer as many as we can; we are extremely busy these days so if we don't get back on a very general question - I am sorry but the answer is probably out there somewhere and any queries will go towards a better site here in the future. All questions are valid and we will try to address them in future editions. Thank you for all the great messages so far and we do appreciate them. [inappropriate messages will be deleted - don't bother]

What else would you like to see added to the site?: I love to see breeders interested more in the functionality of chickens for eggs, egg color, foraging ability, brooding ability, without detriment to the animal. It ruffles me to see breeders interfering with natural selection for show hobbies to where a chicken meets show standards but the broodiness or natural egg cycle is interfered with. It seems to destroy the natural functionality of the chicken - for instance the production hybrids or Leghorns that are bred to exhaust themselves laying or broodiness bred out of them - these poor animals die prematurely from exhaustion or disease. I most certainly am opposed to breeding for deformities like Scots Dumpy or Araucana that have lethal embryonic genes. If humans wouldn't interfere the lethal genes could die off with the deformed offspring/parents and not be perpetuated with saving these lethal genes just to get an extra ear tuft for a show bird. And the poor Jaerhon hens that weigh only 3 lbs (USA) and wear themselves out laying large eggs should be stopped. An almost bantam hen should not be continuously bred to lay over-sized eggs. There are so many deformities being perpetuated like poofy obstructed vision from facial feathering (Silkie, Polish, Houdan, Sultan etc) or lack of natural feathering (Silkie, Turken, or Frizzle) which interferes with nature's original feather functions. I just don't like deformity genes perpetuated. Guess that's why the rescued landrace chickens have the hardiest longevity, natural broodiness, and correct egg-laying cycles like Hedemoras and Icelandics and Flower Hens. Anyway, I've overstated my point-LOL! That's why I loved your mission statement about how you breed your Scots Greys. It is wonderful to read about your passion for raising these birds in a natural humane way by giving broodiness back to your hens etc and a very nice write-up on their history.
Comments: Beautiful Greys! I think they are prettier and more spritely than the USA's heavier Barred Plymouth Rocks! Although one look that is pretty to me personally is the USA's more fan-tailed hens like our Welsummers and smaller combs on most of our USA breeds. For some reason U.K. and Austrailia love the no-fan tails on their hens and the much larger combs on their roosters but then I don't consider those life-threatening deformities like short-leggedness or ear-tuft lethal embryonic genes or hens forced to lay too many or over-sized eggs. Keep up the wonderful work with the breeding program on your side of the world!
