Started over in the Girls La Martiniere in KG and moved over to Boys Martiniere. Finished up my SC in 1965, when Mr Doutre was the Principal. At this time I am retired having worked for British Petroleum in the US for 25 years as a Systems Engineer. I now reside in Anchorage Alaska USA. Comments: Good morning Ray I was delighted to get on your site particularly as I think your Dad and my late husband John (Jack) Robert Ambrose may have known each other. Jack too was in the RAMC during WWII, was POW in Burma from 1942-1945. I understand from a recent photograph taken of him in army uniform in Mussourie that he might jave been there. His father, Herbert Ambrose was in the Railways, so was his Uncle Victor Browne. We were old friends of the family, and I was a widow with two children when I married him in 1975. I'm 60 now and on the verge of retirement from the Ministry of Health in Bahrain where I've been employed from 1976. I'm trying to put my entire family's family's history together which is very difficult, especially with Jack as he told me very little except that they all moved to Poona and later settled in Bowringpet (Bangarapet, KGF) on land they purchased in 1949 and after doing some stints around that area, Jack came to Bahrain as a male nurse in 1956 until 1982 when he passed away. Interestingly, I've just found his army discharge certificate and his army record book!! That's why I was excited when I saw that your Dad too was in the Medical corps during the war. I know it's too much to hope for, but I would like to hear from anyone who knew him and his family.
