I have a few questions about your fire dept billing procedures. I would appreciate it if you could take the time to answer my questions. I do realize you are busy and I will keep the questions to a minimum. I am interested in opening a company that deals with fire dept billing only. I have worked for a company that does fire dept billing however that company does not offer all the additional things that I would like to do for a fire dept and its crews. I use to sell insurance so I do know what the insurance company wants to see when a claim is sent to the adjuster. I also have an associate degree in business administration to back up my educational experiences. 1. Do you do your billing in house or send it to an outside company? 2. Do you provide documentation and training classes to your crews so that you can obtain the most money from the insurance companies? 3. If you do your own billing, do you mail most of your claims or fax them? 4. If you do your own billing or have a company to do your billing for you, do you or they bill your claims within 24 hours of you giving them the information? 5. Does the outside company mail or fax your claims? 6. Does the outside company provide the extra training for your crews? 7. Do you feel if a company offers training for your employee on documentation, bills your claims within 24 hrs of receiving them, sends all the appropriate paper work to the claims adjuster from the start, do your feel that 10% of the monthly income from those claims being paid is a fair payment to the billing company? (For example, if your total income for the month was $8000 do you feel a fair payment of $800 to the billing company would be fair? Including customer service 24/7, all the materials like paper and postage being taken care of along with the above mentioned services? I appreciate you taking the time to review my email.
