How good do you think this site is: Well Done!!! Comments: My Brother, Jonathan W. (Jack) Foley served aboard the Cabot. He never had much to say about the war - and I am now 76 years old. He passed away in August 2001 and is missed every day. I don't know his squadrom, but I would surmise it was VF29 or VF31. Any information a former crewmember could pass along - I would appreciate it...... Thanks 3 Tue June 01 2010 - 01:32:20 Fullname: Heidi Jarvis Email: hjarvis@accountingresourcesinc.com Where are you from?: Simsbury, CT Homepage Name: Homepage URL: Reference: Just Surfed On It! How good do you think this site is: Well Done!!! Comments: My grandfather, Hubert Wardle, served as a "gunner" on the Cabot during WWII. He was a member of the VT31. He passed away more than 17 years ago and spoke very little of his time in the war. After his separation from service in October 1945, he would never fly again. We do have several pictures of him with some of his shipmates. However, we have only been able to identify one by his name on his flight gear, Robert Drake. We would love to be able to piece together a history of his service, determine who he "flew" with and which gunner position he held in the Avenger. I have two young sons who are amazingly interest in all things WWII and I would very much like to be able to pass on accurate stories of their great grandfather. Please contact me if you knew "Hubie" or can provide an information at all to us. This site has given us a much greater appreciation of what he and all of the crew of the Cabot must have gone through 4 Sat May 22 2010 - 00:00:21 Fullname: Frank Beamon Email: fb36@echowireless.net Where are you from?: Vincennes IN Homepage Name: Homepage URL: Reference: Word of Mouth How good do you think this site is: Looks great! Comments: have a dear friend that served on the USS Cabot during WW II. His Name is Sherrill Wade. We served together in 1957. A few years age we were together at the Naval Air Museum, Sherrill gave a walk through on the deck of the Cabot. He pointed out where the Kamikazes hit the ship and where a bomb fell on deck. Sherrill served in the Navy for 28 yearsand worked for USPS for a lot of years. In all he had 60 years of Federal Service. He died in Pensacola. My father was a war baby from when the Cabot was in San Francisco. Due to the nature of war and relationships of the time I never had the opportunity to meet him. I only have a photo and an obituary given to me by another family member. I now have a teen son who is interested in learning anything about WW2, ships, planes and now knows he has a personal connection. He wishes to go in the military when he graduates school. If you know anything about Terrebone, have pictures, personal stories, I would love to hear from you. I would like to share them with my children. I am a writer too and am interested in writing.
