My great grandfather is buried in a small country cemetery in Lincoln Township, Audubon County Iowa, and it is a mess. The stones are falling over, some are broken, and it is svery difficult to find any one stone. It looks like someones cows got into the cemetery and did a lot of damage. I do not mean to offend anyone, but was not able to link to anything other than the guestbook and the pictures of the deteriorated markers. I am involved in trying to restore an old African-American cemetery that is out in the middle of the country (literally). It is surrounded by farm land now and has over 250 people buried there. It is a HUGE task to just keep it mowed. Last year the Geography Dept. at our local university came and did a survey of where the indentions are due to sinking, etc. That will permit us now to fill those spots in and level the ground somewhat. But, there are huge markers that have fallen over with time and as your email read: are almost invisible.
