Comments: My family owns the Historic Park Theatres in Estes Park , Colorado. It has been on the national historic register since 1984. At that time it was the oldert operating motion picture theare west of the Mississippi. I believe that the older ones have closed now and so we are the oldest continuous operating motion picture theatre in the country. The theatre has always shown first run film on a seasonal basis May through September due to weather conditions being next to the Rocky Mountain National Park.
I would appreciate any information you could provide us about your society.

Please advise cost and source of your publication "Theatre Historical Society of America" 1975 Vol. 7, No. 1 re: Mastbaum Theater in Philly. I attended many movies there and remember when the theater was demolished. Other sources or publications available on the Mastbaum would be appreciated.

Thanks, kindly.

We are in the process of raising money to restore the 1919 theatre to its original 1600 seat Broadway style house. Our projected opening is Dec. 30, 2012. We are about 2/3 of the way there in a 27 million project.
We could love to join your org. but money is tight now and every last cent is going for the restoration. Shovels in the ground in June.

Comments: We purchased a building at 229 E. Main Street in Festus, MO known as the Idle Hour Theatre during the early 1900's. We are searching for photos and stories about this building so that we can have it listed as a place of historic significance. Any ideas of where to find information and/or stories about our building? We would love to know what movies showed and obtain old advertisement posters for those films. We would also love to see what it looked like on the inside so that we can decorate in the same style. Thank you.

Comments: I don't know why I didn't join THSA years ago but I'm glad to be here. I've enjoyed repairing vintage neon signs and restoring theatre marquees since 1988. Most of my work is in the SF Bay Area, but Portland, OR has been my home since 2001. In 2008, I had the honor of working with Neon Works of Oakland, CA on the restoration of the Castro vertical sign and marquee. Greg King made that puppy spell for the first time in 50 years! My present project is the Aladdin- my own neighborhood theatre here in Portland. You can view some of our restoration work at http://itsagas.shutterfly.com. I'm enjoying the site and looking forward to meeting some of you. (itsagas@live.com)
