What's your favorite type of historic theatre?: Small Neighborhood Theatre
Comments/Suggestions: We purchased a building at 229 E. Main Street in Festus, MO known as the Idle Hour Theatre during the early 1900's. We are searching for photos and stories about this building so that we can have it listed as a place of historic significance. Any ideas of where to find information and/or stories about our building? We would love to know what movies showed and obtain old advertisement posters for those films. We would also love to see what it looked like on the inside so that we can decorate in the same style. Thank you.

Comments/Suggestions: I don't know why I didn't join THSA years ago but I'm glad to be here. I've enjoyed repairing vintage neon signs and restoring theatre marquees since 1988. Most of my work is in the SF Bay Area, but Portland, OR has been my home since 2001. In 2008, I had the honor of working with Neon Works of Oakland, CA on the restoration of the Castro vertical sign and marquee. Greg King made that puppy spell for the first time in 50 years! My present project is the Aladdin- my own neighborhood theatre here in Portland. You can view some of our restoration work at http://itsagas.shutterfly.com. I'm enjoying the site and looking forward to meeting some of you. (itsagas@live.com)

Comments/Suggestions: Just wanted to say Hi! I'm a musician and former residence of Lombard (RIP The DuPage Theatre). I also collect Theatre Orchestra music from those early days of silent films and stage shows at Movie Palaces. I'm very happy to the York Theatre in Elmhurst being supported and still, thankfully intact. Keep up the good work!
