FRIENDS WITHOUT FACES We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens We all have to wonder, what this possibly means. With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze Looking for something or someone, as we with in a daze. We chat with each other, we type all our woes Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes. We wait for somebody, to type out our name. We want recognition, but it is always the same. We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt. In PM's we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt. We do form friendships - but - how, we don't know But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow. Why is it on screen that we can be so bold Telling our secrets, that have never been told. Why is it we share the thought in our mind With those we can't see, as though we were blind. The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell. We all have our problems, and need someone to tell. We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must, So we turn to the 'puter, and to those we can trust. A lady named Eileen started it. I was doing research on the web about Emotional Abuse (which I have been dealing with for over 25 years!). -My- story was kind of EXACTLY opposite from yours. ALL the 'signs' of his being an ABUSER of HUMANS (instead of SUBSTANCES) were all there. YEARS ago, I sent for the materials from 1-800-SAFE and showed it to (my then LEGALLY MARRIED TO) spouse. So, he cooled it for a while (mostly verbal and THEN _extrememly_ 'physical'--as well as the 'psychological' "gas-lighting" MIND games--all about POWER AND CONTROL, don't you know) with the same OLD (and typical pattern, the gifts, the wanting to "make-up" (HIS wanting to get back into MY "good-graces") with SEX, etc., etc., AD NAUSEAUM! The thing IS---I am NOW a member of AA! I was NOT a heavy drinker, and basically a NON-drinker when I became of AGE (the year I turned 18--the Legal Age Limit had been lowered TO 18) I started working as a dancer and even though we earned MONEY on our drinks, I tended to just let them SIT because I did NOT want to be DRUNK at work and fall off the platform and break my LEGS (which AS a dancer was ESSENTIAL!)! Long story short, after ALL the techniques, and abuses (emotional AND physical) I started to SELF MEDICATE with liquor to escape the PAIN! As I stated, I -AM- getting -help- for what has NOW become MY problem. However, SOBER -or- DRUNK---everything was ALWAYS -my- fault--did not do the dishes 'right' (HIS way)--I was A BITCH CUNT MORON (if I had to ask him about how to DO something on the computer)--etc., etc!! My -father- was an abusive alcoholic to my mother (God rest HER soul)--so I can IDENTIFY with being the VICTIM of an "alcoholic". The shame of it IS--had I LEFT the abusive relationship with "Sir Alwaysright" (as my mother had WARNED me to)--I more likely than NOT would NOT HAVE HAD TO --BECOME-- A MEMBER -OF- AA! I am getting counseling on BOTH ends--ONE for -MY- problem and one for HIS problem which HE is MAKING -my- problem! I am still in -his- home (for financial among other reasons--no children but PETS which I absolutely ADORE) and have been advised to NOT take "flight" from him while I am in such early stages of sobriety. I have LOST so MUCH of MYSELF to him (my sobriety being just the tip of the iceberg) that I am determined to GET WELL, -STAY- WELL, and get away from him WITHOUT having to LOSE MY -PETS- (which ARE my 'babies')! I was asked if losing my pets was worth endangering my LIFE for--the answer is YES! After all he has PUT me through he is NOT getting the chance TO 'GLOAT' over how he managed to make my life a living hell AND take my BABIES too! That is about it, for now. Am meeting my AA sponsor at a 6pm meeting tonight here in THE WOODLANDS, Texas (The Serenity Group). Got a few more things to take care of until then. God bless you.
