Comments: Just to let you know that I lived in Sahebganj now in
Jharkand, in the late forties till the mid fiftees. I can vividly remember that there were a lot of Anglo Indians
and domiciled Europeans who worked with the railways and the Indian Steam Navigation Company. AS I recall as a child that Sahebganj was located by the side of the Ganges, there were regular ferry services to Sakragali and then to Manihari Ghat. From there trai services were available to Assam. My father was a high ranking railway official based in Sahebganj before he was transferred to Jhajha-- yet another town with a very, very large Anglo Indian community. The fact that Sahebganj was named because the town had a huge Anglo
Indian population. Now I never hear of these two beautiful town with beautiful railway quarters ever mentioned in the AI websites. It is now recorded in W@ikipedia that Jhajha had the largest Loco Shed in Asia. Where have all the AIs gone? I last heard that tnere was not a single AI living in these two beautiful towns. Could you please let me know thru my family e-mail address?

Thanks and Cheers,

Gil.
