I have no words to describe my feelings and thoughts. I'm mad at the world and can't believe that I belong to the human race. I can't understand and will never understand how people, human beings, could do those horrible things. I have no faith in the human race nor I want to have. It's just not worth it. I had never heard the story of Miep Gies before seeing this movie and I've learned more than I ever knew about Anne Frank. We briefly studied the holocaust when I was in Junior high back in 1982, just to see a film about it, showing some of the atrocities that were done to the Jews and others who were persecuted during the holocaust. I don't personally know anyone who lived through the holocaust and I never read the Diary of Anne Frank when in school, but it upsets and angers me when I see newsclips where the heads of countries are saying that the holocaust never happened. Everyone should be required to read this diary either in English or history class during junior high or high school. I plan to read this now. Thank you, Anne and Miep for writing and preserving this diary to allow future generations to learn about this mass genocide and hopefully help to prevent further tragedies of this magnitude. Think of Anne Frank. Think of all the music that never got written, books that never got to be published, poems that never got to be thought of, and so on. I had never read her diary until now, at 32 yrs. old, I just finished it today. I feel such great sadness and desperation and anger!! How, how in this world could this have happened to these HUMAN BEINGS!!?? I am in complete shock and disbelief. I look at the cover of Anne's diary and see her photo looking and smiling at me and I just hope that she is in peace now with her family. I learned so much from her!! Most of all to appreciate every single day of life! I sure wish she was still here on this earth with us. May God bless her soul and the millions killed during this horrific and senseless period of time. I have a story to be told and like Anne Frank, I hope one day to have it heard. MisUnderStood, All By Faith, Like The Seed Of The Sow. Anne let you know that you could live forever even when your gone. I Thank you Anne and I'm greatful that Meir had the strenght and courage to take the family in so your story was able to be heard. Her story is like many in the world today, even though people are not just locked up because that are in hiding, but everyday on the streets is like a hiding for many people, so even if those ones on the street get a chance to read Anne's diary, they would understand themself a little different and they could over come and start living life just as themselfs. Like John Lennon said is it really that hard to 'Imagine' and make it happen that we can all live together. There are so many people on this site from all over the world expressing how they feel about this horrible thing that humans created - My brother went to auchwitz the other day and said you can still smell the gas - Is it still not enough to make us all change - or are we really dammed to eternity? Comments: I just finished reading the diary of Anne Frank, so I thought a little research would help me to understand what she went through after the diary ends. Then I came upon this website with vivid photos and I finally got a dose of reality. I didn't have much understanding of what the victims went through, since I am only thirteen, but now, I better understand. On the verge of depression, I read the diary of Anne Frank (which I thought would make things only worse) but it helped. I could TOTALLY relate to Anne's outbursts, her questioning of authority, and her crying at night. But what I could best relate to is wanting to be something else, wanting a different personality because of people that judge you. But i realized to be happy with yourself, because your life can be taken away when you least expect it. Very nice website. It is for sure my favourite novel. It is so in depth and real and so hard to believe and yet it really is true! I would love to go to the Annexe and to really see the place in which she and her family lived in hiding. She is honest, real and just as a teenager is now. I cant imagine ever having been in her or her families position and honestly i dont think i could have handled it!
