I got a Peacock for my birthday in April. We named him Mr. Peabody and he has been the best pet ever. We got him as a baby,(Peachick) and kept him in the house for about 1 month. Now he lives with our chickens and his is often annoyed with their behavior. He thinks he is above the chickens and they bore him. The coop is very large and Mr.P is very social. Do I have to get him a mate? If I do, will he still get excited to see us? I love the fact that he follows us around the yard and won't leave our sight. He still comes in the house and lays by the stove while my fiance cooks. He just wants to be where we are all the time. We just moved into a 22 acre farmette last month and lo and behold, there are wild peafowl here, as well as guinea fowl. We were pleasantly suprised one morning to wake up one morning with a peacock peeking in our bedroom window at us! So I have taken to surfing the web to get some more info on them. I would love to attract them to stay close to the house. Maybe I will get inspired enough to raise a few of my own! I will be visiting this site often as you have a lot of great info.
