Comments: i'm just burnt out from being sick and am looking around for answers. for yrs. i've been getting these quick "head flashes", like a lighting bolt goes through my head. at times they'll keep me laid up for a week. last winter my left outter ear canal gets all tingly with left cheek numbness. head mri showed a mass on my clivus bone. had another mri w/contrast and full body bone scan to check for possible clival tumor or multi myeloma. appears to be no tumor(maybe just fatty bone marrow) and oncologist said blood work was negative for multi myeloma. mri also showed chronic sinusitus however the only problem i seem to have there is sometimes the snap, crack and pop above the eyes. it's not that bad though. the head flashes concern me the most as they are very scary and it feels like i'm about to die. i get nauseous and feel like i'm going to pass out often. sometimes vision gets blurry and sometimes my speech is slurred.also, the last 2 months my tongue has been quite tender and sore and sometimes will bleed around the edge towards the tip. i've been quite fatigued lately. i've smoked about 1/2 pack of light cigarettes for about 15 yrs. until 3 weeks ago, i drank about 12 cans of diet coke a day. after i read some of the alarming stories about aspartame i quit that immediately. nobody seems to know what's going on with me. anything jump out at you Dr. Grossan? i realize this is quite sketchy but i'm at a dead end and i just don't know where to go from here. i want to go to mayo clinic here in phx. but i can't afford it. any help would be appreciated more than you could imagine. well, you probably could imagine it because of all you do and probably have been through. thanks. tom birkeland

Comments: Dear Dr. Grossan: First, I want to thank you a thousand times for recommending nasal irrigation. I used to get three or four sinus infections a year, plus one or two colds, and seasonal hay fever. Since I have been following the nasal irrigation routine (it's been almost two years now) I have been in excellent shape. I have had zero sinus infections, zero colds, and am no longer bothered much by pollen and other spring irritants. Even last spring, when we had record-setting pollen counts, I felt fine. It's been a tremendous change for the better in my life. Before I learned about this simple routine, I was even considering sinus surgery! Please feel free to quote me in any of your brochures or other publications. I am also writing to ask you about one small problem. My Water-Pik, that I bought with a nasal attachment through Hydro-Med Inc. (which I accessed from the link on your web site) recently started to leak. I went out the same day and purchased a new Water-Pik of the same type that fits my nasal attachment. But it seems the brand-new Water-Piks are a bit more powerful than the old ones. It looks exactly the same, but the spray on my new one feels much stronger, even on the lowest setting. It's not comfortable anymore to irrigate with it. I'm wondering, is there another brand, or perhaps another model of the Water-Pik brand, that has got a less forceful low setting but still would work with my nasal attachment? Have any other patients complained that the new Water-Piks are too powerful? I would appreciate any information you have on this matter, and again, I thank you for having made such a big difference in my life! Sincerely, Peggy Robin

Comments: I am a singer on my church Worship Team and over a month and a half ago I completely lost my voice. My family doctor diagnosed me though he admitted that he didn't know the true reason I wasn't able to sing. I've struggled all this time without the ability to sing and often unable to even talk, his suggestions and medications not working. I'm excited about Rosalie Loeding's articles on this subject and am eager to try her suggestions. I will also be sharing this information with the rest of "Team". I will write back with the results. Thanks!!!

Comments: For the past three years or so, I have suffered from very bad sinus infections, almost on a continuous basis and was prescribed many different kinds of antibiotics to no avail. When antibiotics did not seem to be able to cure my condition which by then was diagnosed as chronic, I underwent two sinus surgeries within 12 months of each other. These operations opened up the passages of my sinus cavities, but about a month after the last sinus operation, I suffered another bout of infection. By that time, I was getting pretty desperate. I then decided to try and find a solution myself and did some research on the Internet. I happened to come across the site where you recommend nasal irrigation and your BreathEase solution. Since I had not tried that approach before, I thought that I did not have much to loose (except money - I live in Québec so the U.S. exchange rate is fierce) so in November 2001, I ordered a WaterPik with the special nasal attachment and your Breath Ease solution. Because I was quite infected, I started to irrigate three times every day, after a while I went on to two irrigations, and for the past month or so, I only irrigate once a day. I can even skip a day now and then and I am finally feeling much better. I have practically no secretions, no more headaches and have not used antibiotics since November 2001 - which is quite a feat considering my past problems. So this letter is thank you for the very good advice you have given to all of us sinus sufferers. Your treatment works ! I realize that I will have to continue with the treatment but it is a small price to pay for being rid of this condition. Thank you again. Cordially,
