Last time I was there was 1984, when I just had to climb Smeaton's Tower for old times sakes! Very good site, brings back many memories. Comments: When i was a child we had an avenger! we absolutly loved it - it was a yellow sand colour. Only bad thing was the seats used to get really hot in the sun and burn your legs. When i went to college (plymouth CFE!) in about 1992 there was a guy in my class who had a white avenger - and it was also considered really retro cool. ... would love to know where our one ended up my dad sold it when he got a new job that came with a car in about 1984 (think he sold it for £100 pounds..) Comments: Now living/working in Melbourne, Oz. I had a white Avenger (when it was a Hillman) whilst in the army stationed in N.Yorkshire in 1978. Great little car. Bought it off a lower rank (must admit to using the advantage) who took the head apart and didn't know how to put it back together. Very advantageous being a helicopter tech. as I was then. Loved the car throughout ownership. Hated the later models mainly for the change to the rear light cluster which they made horizontal and not"L"shaped and panel infilled the upper part - just horrible. Great article. Now own Toyotas in Melbourne (me & wife) - such is life!!! I Have just been watching on the new BBC Achive website the 1st demoltion of the drakes Circus. It was about 1965.
