How good do you think this site is: Well Done!!! Comments: I am doing an oil painting for Frank Vashro (son of Torpedo Squardon 29 pilot, J. A. Vashro (LT. jg). He piloted Avenger #9. Would like to know what the colors were of the flight suites, the skeleton logo on the plane (the background), other plane numbers that flew off the USS Cabot (I think 8 Avengers). Anything could help. Working on a historically accurate depection of 3 Avengers in formation flying with the USS Cabot about 1000' below in the Pacific at full steam. Thanks much. Jay D. Comments: Domenico was my father and served on the Cabot with pride,honor and distiction. He never spoke of the trauma,bloodshed and times of high anxiety. He knew that it was a job he was called to do without embellishment. My only contact with the Cabot was long after the Korean war when it was berthed for a short period of time here in Quonset Point.I can remember the quiet pride and nostalgia he felt.We are free today because of their sacrifices and must never forget the value of those efforts,even though those that sacrificed ask nothing in return. My father has since gone to his eternal reward,his Flag draped casket, complete with military honors and a place in the Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery are fitting tributes for a person who served all of us so unselfishly. May he, and all that served, rest in peace.
