Comments: Hello Ken, I was a passenger on the Australis in Feb 1970. We disembarked from Bremerhaven in Germany and sailed to Melbourne, Australia. These are my best memories ever! Comments: My husband (Iain) was a passenger on Australis en route to England from Australia in mid 70's, he was only about 3 or 4 years old and unfortunately can't remember. I found your site by doing a search for Australis, and I just kinda stumbled across it, and I love it, its wonderful. I passed the link on to my father in law, he thinks its wonderful also. I have been obsessed by ships ever since I was a tiny little girl. We had a great time on board, the only down side was stopping in mid-Atlantic when a freighter was on fire. My mother Diane or Diana Lomas nee Haden worked on the Australis as a childrens hostess for a few years round about 1977. I know that it had always been her ambition to work on board ship and some of her fondest memories are from that time. One of her greatest regrets in life is losing contact with the people she worked with on the ship. I have grown up with her telling me stories of her time at sea but now that I am trying to track down people that may have known her, the stories and names escape me. I would really like to get in contact with people who may have known her, as a kind of supprise. So let me know if you have any recollection of her. I know that she would really like to get in contact with someone called Barbra who she latter moved in with in Athens. This lady was responsible for buying her a ticket to the island of crete where she fell in love with the island and moved there for a few years.
