Brought back some great memories especially the rough weather we ran into coming around Sth Africa. How good do you think this site is: Looks great! Comments: I was on the Australis 1974, Sydney to Southampton. I had my 4th birthday (in October) on the ship and got a card from the Captain. I remember Neptune and the crossing of the Equator snd I was absolutely terrified! I thought he was going to come and get me and throw me in the pool or overboard. Also remember a fancy dress party (I was a witch), trip to shore (when my hat blew off) and when it was stormy I used to go to the top deck with my Dad to see the 'big ship dancing'. How good do you think this site is: Well done!!! Comments: I sailed on the Australis in the summer of 1975 and did the complete round the world journey from Southampton and back again. Had my 5th birthday in NZ!Have plenty of memories, all good ones.. except King Neptune... was scared he would through me into the pool or overboard. Comments: I travelled on the wonderful 'Australis' from Melbourne to Southampton via Sydney, Auckland, Panama & Miami in March 1967, returning in November 1968 via Piraeus, Messina & Capetown. They were great times, I was a single female of 21, so got lots of attention from those young Greek stewards - one or two of whom are still in contact all these years later. I also 'cruised' on her from Melbourne in January 1974 to Sydney, Auckland, Suva & Nuku'alofa. We were supposed to go to Tonga too, but a cyclone put a stop to that, pretty rough seas (remember coming out of the Pacific Dining Room to a 'cobweb' of ropes for safety everywhere. Oh yes, & that was the day the movie showing was "The Poseidon Adventure" !!) so we sailed back to Fiji. Thanks to you & all your subscribers for memories of the 'Grand Lady' - also in memory of Spiros, Ionnis, Stelio, Stavros, Kostas & all the other great crew. Comments: I emigrated to Australia as a 9 year old with my parents and brother in 1973 and what a wonderful adveturous experience it was for a young lad. Many terrific memories....one that springs to mind was crowding around a chap with a small radio on the top deck listening to the FA cup final in very ordinary weather. We are in the process of having a fair ammount of super 8 footage converted to digital so looking forward to viewing that.
