Comments: Your site is sooo addictive...now the dusting will never get done! I am keen to make some progress in tracing my maternal Irish ancestors. According to her birth certificate, my grandmother, Margaret Jane Gallagher, was born at 25 Lower Road Londonderry on 24 December 1888. Her parents are shown as John and Rebecca (nee Weir); the only marriage in those names to be found was on 14 February 1878 in the parish of Muff (Greenbank) Co Donegal; the groom was a bachelor labourer of Carey and his father was John Gallagher, a mason. The bride was a spinter of Mullaghgeagh and her father was Joseph Weir, a labourer. Apparently, Rebecca died at some time around the early part of last century and John took my grandmother and her brother Joe to Glasgow in Scotland. In 1909 my grandmother married John Anderson, son of William and Mary (nee Wylie) and they migrated to Australia in 1920 with their three children on board the Beltana. I understand Joe may have migrated to Canada, but I haven't been able to trace him either. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Comments: I have also heard about you from Kevin Ringwald. My Great Great Grandmother was Catherine McGuinness McNeill. She was the sister of Winnie McMonigal from Killybegs, Donegal. I found her death notice that gave her sisters name as Winnie which led me to Kevin and Meg Ringwald. They then helped fill me in on information that I have been so desperately seeking. We have come to the conclusion that Catherine and Winnie's parents are Owen(John)McGuinness and Winifred McMenemy. Also that they came from Largysillagh, Donegal. Kevin has Winnie McMonigal's marriage certificate that I think you helped him get that shows Owen as the Father. Now he has Winnie McGuinness's death certificate that shows her mother as Winnie McMenemy. I guess I am looking for any record of Catherine McGuinness being born, traveling to America, etc. She was born between 1844-1850. She 1st shows up in St. Paul, MN applying to Marry Daniel McNeill in 1872. That is all I have. I really want to know how she came to be there, where she came from, her parents, birth, etc. Anything you know or can help point me towards would be so Awesome. Daniel McNeill was Scottish, but born on Prince Edward Island Cananda or Nova Scotia so he is not Irish. Thanks so much in advance.
